The PROVISIONAL SCOREKEEPER certification is the basic scorekeeper certification required for all provisional and regional referees, and for all club scorekeeper representatives. It is the basic scorekeeper certification required to be a paid scorekeeper on select matches.
REGISTRATION – All certified scorekeepers must be members in good standing with the Region. For now, being “in good standing” simply means that any registration paperwork and information is up-to-date, and all required fees are paid. All new and recertifying scorekeepers must be registered before participating as a scorekeeper in any event and before any ratings. It is recommended that all certified scorekeepers actively keep score on matches throughout the season.
PRIOR CERTIFICATION – There is no prior certification required for new provisional scorekeepers. Any person recertifying as a provisional scorekeeper must have been certified as a provisional or higher level scorekeeper the previous season.
AGE – There is no age restriction for this certification.
CLINIC – All new and recertifying provisional scorekeepers must complete the current season on-line scorekeeper clinic. Be sure to complete the entire clinic. There will be no “live” Region-run scorekeeper clinics.
EXAM – This requirement has been waived by the scorekeeper chairperson. However, if specifically notified by the scorekeeper chairperson, recertifying provisional scorekeepers will need to complete the current season on-line scorekeeper test, corrected to 100% with annotated references.
RATINGS – New provisional scorekeepers must be evaluated on two matches, each with a minimum of 2 sets. Recertifying provisional scorekeepers must obtain a passing rating on one match, with a minimum of 2 sets. Ideally, matches with a deciding set are preferred, but that is generally not possible to predict. Any regional or higher level scorekeeper may perform evaluations/ratings. The evaluation/rating sheets must be attached to your progress form, and the evaluator(s)/rater(s) must sign your progress form.
