 Regional Referee

Regional Referee Requirements

THIS CERTIFICATION LEVEL IS FOR EXPERIENCED REFEREES.  IT IS GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AS A HIGHER LEVEL.  REFEREES AT THIS LEVEL SHOULD BE ABLE TO OFFICIATE ANY LEVEL MATCH WITHIN THE REGION.  REGIONAL REFEREES ARE LOOKED UPON MORE OR LESS AS EXPERTS AND ARE EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO HELP  IN TRAINING OTHER OFFICIALS AND IN RATING OTHER OFFICIALS.

NEW

  • Be a registered member of KRVA for the current season and maintain good standing.
  • Be 18 or older as of September 1 of the current season.
  • Obtain approval from the Referee Chairperson to pursue this level.
  • Attend a KRVA Referee Clinic or a USAV National Referee Clinic; clinician must sign your referee progress form.
  • Complete the current USAV Referee Test A, corrected to 100% - must achieve at least an 80 on the first attempt.  The On-Line version is available after October 15 each year.
  • Attend a Region rating event and obtain passing ratings on 4 matches, two as R1 and two as R2, by at least two different Junior National or higher level referees; raters must sign your referee progress form.  Ratings events to be announced.
  • Complete the current On-Line Scorekeeper Test, corrected to 100% - must achieve at least a 75 on the first attempt.
  • Obtain passing ratings on 2 matches as a scorekeeper, each a minimum of two sets, by two different raters; raters must sign your referee progress form.

RECERTIFYING

  • Be a registered member of KRVA for the current season and maintain good standing.
  • Attend a KRVA Referee Clinic or a USAV National Referee Clinic; clinician must sign your referee progress form.   THIS REQUIREMENT WAIVED FOR 2010-2011 FOR RECERTIFYING REGIONAL REFEREES.
  • Complete the current USAV Referee Test A, corrected to 100% - must achieve at least an 85 on the first attempt.  The On-Line version is available after October 15 each year.
  • Complete the current On-Line Scorekeeper Test, corrected to 100% - must achieve at least a 75 on the first attempt.
  • Must officiate as a full-day official at a KRVA bid or regional championship event.
  • Attend a Region ratings event for ratings every third year.
  • If notified by the Referee Chairperson, obtain passing rating(s) as a referee the other two years as directed.
  • If notified by either the Referee Chairperson or the Scorekeeper Chairperson, complete the On-Line Scorekeeper Clinic and/or obtain passing rating(s) as a scorekeeper as directed.
