Jr Boy's Operating Code Change -

The Jr Boys Operating Code Section 4.5 has been changed by a vote of the board of directors to the following:

4.5.   Coaches

Every Juniors team must have at least one coach on the roster and present at all practices, tournaments and events. The coach must be at least 18 years of age, at least two years older than the team playing level and a member of the KRVA.
All coaches on the team bench must be IMPACT or CAP certified. An IMPACT or CAP certified coach must be on the team bench during all team competitions, and in attendance at all team practices and events.
IMPACT  or CAP Certification must be completed by the start of each season. Teams failing to have an IMPACT or CAP certified coach on their bench cannot compete in any events sanctioned by any region or by USAV.
A certified coach must be present at all Club or team sponsored volleyball activities including practices and tournaments. Any team participating in an event without a certified coach present will be disqualified from the event, forfeit all matches and the tournament entry fee. Further sanctions may also be imposed against the coach or the team.

USAV, Ludus Tours Announce Grant for Boys' Volleyball

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Volleyball is joining forces with its newest partner to offer the 2012 Ludus Tours Sport Development Grants to volleyball clubs for the development or enhancement of programming for boys, ages 14 years or younger.

Any USAV-sanctioned volleyball club that is in good standing with their Region and USAV is eligible to apply for one of five $1,000 grants. Only one club per USAV region will be awarded a grant. Grant funds must be used to develop new programming or enhance existing programming for boys, ages 14 years or younger. It is strongly suggested that the funds be used to create or improve youth leagues that cater to boys.

"It is a distinct pleasure to add Ludus Tours to our family of corporate partners. We know that Ludus Tours will provide USA Volleyball's members and athletes' families with a memorable experience at the Summer Games," USA Volleyball Secretary General Kerry Klostermann said. "We appreciate Ludus' commitment to volleyball at the grassroots level in the form of its Ludus Tours Sport Development Grant."

"As an organization, we went to the drawing board to figure out how we can help an organization like USA Volleyball," said Adam Dailey, Managing Director at Ludus Tours.  "For Ludus, we wanted to look back after a few years and see progress from the elite to the grassroots levels and if we can contribute to that in even one small positive way, we're contributing in a way that we're very proud of."

 New Boys Program! Minimize

  Boys Volleyball

The Keystone region recently adopted a new rule for the Boys division that will be a dramatic change for the region. Starting this year the region will be conducting two divisions for Boys volleyball, Open and Fellowship.

The Open division will be run as always.

However, the Fellowship division has been created to host High School teams that want to get together and prep for the upcoming High School season or lower level open teams. The Club/Team must register with the region. They will then be able to enter events on the Regions website in Fellowship Tournaments. These events will be less formal but coaches will have to bring a team roster (even if hand written) with the boys names and KRVA membership numbers. Players from any Open level clubs will be permitted to be picked up to play with a fellowship team, they just need to let the coach know what there KRVA membership number is for that teams roster.

All other rules will apply regarding teams, coaches and background screening, Plus all players must be registered with the region. Any club found playing with unregistered players will be sanctioned.

What this means is Players will no longer be forced to decide between playing for an Open club or  playing for a High School Club. They will be able to play Saturday with their Open Club and Sunday with their High School teams.

The Fellowship events will be sponsored in two age categories 18 and Under Varsity and 16 and under JV plus the region will only sanction the events to fall on different days than the Open division on that weekend. This new division should help expand the number of boys playing that cannot commit to a full Open schedule and give more teams the chance to move up and down, to experience the great level of Boys Volleyball in this area

Please pass this along to all your High School Coaches and Club Coaches

 Thank You,
Brian Smith
KRVA Boys Chair
