Across the USA, 409,000 girls are playing high school volleyball. 200,000 girls are playing USAV club volleyball.

The only other larger girls' sports are outdoor track and basketball. Volleyball is for real!  Maybe there's a reason it's the fastest growing sport.  Check it out!

Want to get started?  Shoot me an email and I will be in touch.   Things we are trying to do at KRVA Grassroots:

  • Get the word out.  As evidenced by Penn State's great success, volleyball is no longer just a west coast sport.  We all need to hear about it.
  • Helping people start new clubs and teams, at any level.
  • Run clinics for coaches, junior, outdoor, adults, seniors and handicapped...to introduce the sport of volleyball to people who want to play.
  • Work with local organizations across the region (such as YMCA's, Boys and Girl Clubs, etc.) to help them get volleyball programs off the ground.
  • The more you know, the quicker we can get it going.  All it takes is making contact.

If you like what Grassroots is doing, join us.  Just let me know.  The KRVA Grassroots Committee meets via email, with a few phone calls here and there.  We have not yet traveled to meet.

*Please note:

1) Questions about IMPACT certification should be addressed to the Coaches Development Chair (coach@KRVA.org)

2) Questions about Rosters and membership should be directed to registration@KRVA.org

If you have a volleyball event going on, let me know and I'll get it posted here.

Got a cool story to tell us, email to me and I'll post it.

In the future, I plan to add a few links of other events that are going on around Pennsylvania.

At our KRVA Regional Championships on May 12, we will have 2 separate courts designated as our Grow the Game Courts.  From 8am to noon, the younger kids can play and we will have a few coaches there to show them some fun, very basic games to play on a low net.  Wear your sneakers.  Parents, we'll ask you to sign a form that gets your child a one-day pass membership to KRVA, we'll pay the fee.  It's a legalese thing we have to do, just like any player or coach would have to do.  Then after the kids finish, we have a number of local KRVA senior members taking the court to show us how volleyball can be a game for life.  Stick around to watch these guys go.

Remarkable quotes:  Question - What do you like most about KRVA volleyball?

"I liked getting to know the basics of all the positions.  The coolest thing was being able to travel and play against teams from all over."  MM, 12s player from PA

"I have made friends from all over the country.  Some are my best friends.  I also get a lot better from playing club ball.  The coolest thing was speaking spanish with those awesome players from Puerto Rico.  They were so cool."  RS, 15s player from PA
